Where is wrestlemania xxviii being held
Having Bryan come to the ring with A. With the way Bryan forced her to make very personal confessions on SmackDown , however, it would appear as though a breakup could be in the works. I anticipate A. Sheamus has built up too much momentum since his face turn and Rumble win, so I have to believe that he will come out on top. Although it seems like little more than a throw-in match, Randy Orton vs. Kane certainly has the potential to be a good one. It basically came down to one of the company's top guys in Orton and one of the most well-respected veterans in Kane not having anything to do at WrestleMania.
The creative team did a nice job of crafting a storyline out of the handshake between Kane and Orton over the summer, so now we have a feud that at least makes some sense. For the most part, Orton has been booked like Superman since his face turn two years ago, so it's tough to imagine him losing to Kane.
As much as the creative team has tried to make Kane look like a legitimate monster by putting him back in a mask, he doesn't have the results to back that up. There really isn't anything to gain by making Orton lose this match, so I fully expect the WWE to make the kids happy with an Orton victory. While that would probably be the best course of action since it would give Rhodes wins over legitimate veterans at Mania in back-to-back years as he beat Rey Mysterio last year, there is reason to believe that things will go against the popular school of thought.
The main reasoning for that is the way that Rhodes has completely owned him during the feud. Rhodes has gotten the better of Big Show at every turn and continually taunts him with clips of his past WrestleMania failures. As much as I would like to see Rhodes win, a loss wouldn't be the end of the world.
Rhodes has been an entertaining champion, but losing will rid him of the Intercontinental Championship and allow him to rise to main-event status. Should Sheamus win the World Heavyweight Championship, then I could easily see Rhodes being his first challenger after Daniel Bryan's obligatory rematch.
After weeks of wondering where The Miz would fit into the WrestleMania card, it was revealed that he would be the final member of Team Johnny after he saved John Laurinaitis from a Cobra at the hands of Santino. My initial thought was that Miz would find a way to get onto Teddy Long's team and destroy it from the inside, but Miz was conventionally added to the heel team.
After all the embarrassment he has suffered over the past several months, The Miz needs a big performance in order to be taken seriously again. He continues to be fed to main-event talent, and since losing the WWE Championship to John Cena last year, he has mostly been an afterthought with the exception of his stint in a tag team with R-Truth.
The Miz is a main-event performer in terms of his look, presence and mic skills, and his in-ring work continues to improve, so he needs to get back on track. Helping Laurinaitis gain control of both RAW and SmackDown would be a fantastic start as it would allow Laurinaitis to reward Miz with a world title shot. That is what I expect to happen as Miz takes down Long's rag-tag group of wrestlers. On a non-wrestling-related note, you should expect to see Jim Ross call a few matches on Sunday.
On the January 2 , episode of Raw, after extensive hype through several viral vignettes proclaiming the "end of the world as we know it" on that day, Chris Jericho returned to the WWE after over a year, and established a villainous persona over the next several weeks. On the February 13 edition of Raw, Jericho accused Punk in an in-ring segment of being a copycat of him, and that he Punk stole his proclamation of being the "best in the world".
While competing in the Raw Elimination Chamber match at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Jericho was knocked out by a kick to the head by Punk, rendering him unable to compete any further, and Punk went on to win that match. This incident further fueled Jericho's animosity towards Punk.
In subsequent promos, both wrestlers expressed their desire to prove who is "the best in the world. Their feud gained increased momentum week after week when, over January and February , Rhodes began mocking Big Show's less than stellar performances at WrestleMania over the years, calling him "a reverse Undertaker" a direct reference to The Undertaker's undefeated record at WrestleMania, compared to Big Show's record also citing the ridiculous nature of some of his matches such as his match against Akebono at WrestleMania 21 in a Sumo match and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Later that night, Long agreed with Laurinaitis' desire for only one man to run both brands, but believed that it should be him. The two were then given the chance by the WWE Board of Directors to run the other show for one night in order for the Board to evaluate them, with Long running the March 5 edition of Raw and Laurinaitis in charge of the March 9 edition of SmackDown.
That night on Raw, Long appointed his assistant Santino Marella to be the captain of his team, while Laurinaitis appointed Otunga to be the captain and named Mark Henry as a member of his team. On March 15, it was announced that R-Truth had been added to Long's team. Phoenix, angered over having been traded to the SmackDown brand by O'Dell, barged into their office and got into a confrontation with both women, leading to a Six-Diva tag team match later that night in which Menounos' team defeated Phoenix's team.
On the edition of Tribute to the Troops , Menounos made an appearance, this time in an Eight-Diva tag team match, winning the match for her team by pinning Phoenix. Kelly and Eve, on the other hand, had a falling apart of their friendship after Eve admitted to having used Zack Ryder and John Cena to further her own career.
On the March 15 episode of Extra , Phoenix and Eve interrupted an interview between Kelly and Menounos, which resulted in a confrontation.
Phoenix would then challenge Menounos to a match at WrestleMania, which the latter accepted. Later that night, it was announced on WWE. The two men then brawled, with Orton ultimately being chokeslammed by Kane. On the March 9 edition of SmackDown, Orton and Kane once again brawled at the end of the show with no man appearing to gain an advantage. The next week on SmackDown, Orton demanded Kane to explain his intentions.
He referred to his handshake with Orton after a Street Fight on the July 22, edition of SmackDown, in which Orton had defeated him.
Kane, explaining that the handshake made him look weak and "human," claimed that this "wretched" self was now gone, and announced that he would challenge Orton at WrestleMania XXVIII. Pro Wrestling Explore. He continued to decimate the back of The Undertaker with thundering chair shots. The trademark Sledgehammer of Triple H found the light of day and he used it to break down Taker further with brutal shots to the temple. Triple H agreed only if Michaels would call for the bell to stop the match, but The Undertaker begged him not to.
Taker in a confused state, clinched the Hell's Gate Submission on Michaels, rendering him unconscious. Taker became enraged and choke slammed Robinson hard to the mat. An irate Triple H throws Michaels out of the ring, and at this point Taker mounts the impressive comeback.
Triple H reaches for the sledgehammer and Taker grabs the steel chair, Taker is the first one up and the result is ear splitting chair shots to Triple H's back. Michaels pleads with Taker to stop, Taker goes for the cover but miraculously Triple H raises the arm and continues to fight. Taker then clocks Triple with the sledgehammer and hits one final Tombstone for the three count. Comments: Spectacular match, The Undertaker's iconic streak is still intact, and Triple H was the one who had to be carried out of the ring a broken man.
With all the chips on the table and the hands dealt, it was the final showdown between the team of John Lauranitis and the team of Theodore Long. Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler started the match, and Kofi mounted the quick offensive. Jack Swagger got the tag and he started to punish Booker T with some power moves. Members of both teams exchanged some spots, and Team Teddy Captain Santino finally got the hot-tag from Booker T and hit his signature moves on Miz. Santino hit the Cobra on Miz for the close three when Ziggler made the save.
Ryder attempted to get Eve out of the ring when Miz hits the distracted Ryder with the Skull Crushing Finale for the win. The match started out with Jericho and Punk exchanging ground maneuvers.
Punk gained control of the match early on against Jericho, punishing him with hard knee strikes and kicks to Jericho in the corner.
Throughout the match Jericho baited Punk, commenting on his father and his sister, trying to enrage Punk, but Punk regained his composure and went back to some mat wrestling against Jericho. Jericho was now in control of the match, and hit Punk with a suplex over the top rope to the floor. Jericho punished Punk on the floor then brought the match back inside the ring. Jericho managed to get a few close near-falls against Punk. The match went back and forth, with neither man getting the significant advantage over the other.
Jericho hit his first attempt at the Walls of Jericho, but Punk countered and sent Jericho flying to the opposite end of the ring, then hit Jericho with a damaging kick to the head.
The match continues back and forth, and Jericho hit the Lionsault for another close three. Punk attempted the Hurrancanrana, but Jericho countered with another Walls of Jericho and Punk grabbed the rope to break the hold. Punk sent Jericho over the top rope then hit a suicide dive. Punk threw Jericho back inside and attempted a springboard, Jericho countered with yet another Code Breaker for a close fall.
Punk attempted two GTS' in a row, but Jericho countered. Jericho went up to the top rope and Punk hit the dropkick on Jericho to send him crashing down to the mat. Punk slapped the Anaconda Vice on Jericho, and they followed up with several near-fall roll-ups. Jericho used every ounce of strength to break free but it was no use, he taps, CM Punk got his hand raised and retained the WWE Championship. Comments: Phenomenal match, hands down the best match of the night.
Lots of near-falls by both Jericho and Punk.
