Which liverpool manager signed suarez

I believe I can achieve the ambitions of winning trophies and playing at the very highest level with Liverpool. My aim is to help get us there as quickly as possible. Without doubt the backing I have received from the Liverpool fans has influenced my decision. I am so proud to represent them and go out to do my best for them every time I pull on the shirt. We have a special relationship; they have love for me and in return I love them back.

I will always do my best for them and hopefully we can achieve success together. He added yet another brace to his name in Liverpool's next match- a win at home to Cardiff. His first was a volley from the edge of the area after the ball had been flicked up by Jordan Henderson; Henderson assisted his second goal, backheeling the ball into Suarez's feet, who then curled the ball into the far corner of the net.

Suarez also assisted Raheem Sterling's goal in the match. On 1 January , Suarez netted his 20th goal of the season, with a free kick in a win over Hull. This made him the first Liverpool player since Robbie Fowler in and to net 20 league goals in consecutive seasons. Suarez's exploits in December brought him a third consecutive, and 13th overall Standard Chartered Player of the Month award, and also his first Premier League Player of the Month award.

On 12 January , Suarez scored twice in a win at Stoke. The first one was earned through persistance as the striker capitalised on mistakes made by the Stoke defenders, leaving him to poke the ball past the keeper. The second was a curved finish into the far corner, after good work from Daniel Sturridge. Over two weeks later, Suarez started in the nd Merseyside Derby , and rounded off a win.

He picked the ball up on the half way line, ran to the box and curled it past the keeper with his left foot. Suarez endured something of a goal-drought extending over the following five matches, however he continued to perform well and added a number of assists to his name. On 1 March , Suarez made his th Premier League appearance, and marked it with a man of the match performance in a win at Southampton.

First he scored a goal to end his drought, curling the ball round the keeper after it deflected into his path. Then he set up Raheem Sterling for the second goal, and finally won a penalty for Steven Gerrard to convert. In his next game, Suarez scored Liverpool's third in a win at Manchester United, curling the ball round the keeper with his left foot. With Liverpool now firmly involved in a race for the Premier League title, Suarez netted a hattrick in the Red's next game, away at Cardiff on 22 March His first was a close-range strike following a cross from Glen Johnson ; his second was a left-footed shot from the centre of the box into the bottom right corner of the net after being set up by Daniel Sturridge, and his third came deep in injury time when he chased down a ball from Martin Skrtel , outmuscled the Cardiff defender and slotted past the goalkeeper.

His exploits helped Liverpool to a win. His goals put him on 28 for the Premier League season- tying Suarez with Robbie Fowler as Liverpool's top scorer in a single league season Fowler achieved 28 goals in the season.

Suarez then broke the record on 30 March , netting Liverpool's second in a home win over Spurs. After robbing the ball from Michael Dawson, Suarez bore down on goal and slotted across Hugo Lloris into the far corner. Suarez's next goal came on 20 April away to Norwich. After being fed by Raheem Sterling in the box, Suarez prodded the ball past 'keeper John Ruddy into the far corner of the net to put Liverpool up in their victory.

On 27 April , Liverpool ceded control of the title race to Manchester City with two games remaining, following a home defeat by Chelsea. However that evening, Suarez collected the PFA Player of the Season award, becoming the first Liverpool player to receive the accolade since Steven Gerrard in the season. On 5 May , Suarez netted Liverpool's third goal as they raced into a lead away at Crystal Palace, firing low past Julian Speroni from inside the box.

With just 12 minutes remaining however, Liverpool squandered their lead and the game finished Seemingly providing the hammer blow in Liverpool's pursuit of the league title, Suarez was despondent at the final whistle. He covered his face with his shirt and was clearly in floods of tears whilst team mates Steven Gerrard and Kolo Toure consoled him off the field.

The following day was an improvement for Suarez however, as he collected three awards at Liverpool's end of season prize-giving ceremony. He won both the fans' and players' Liverpool player of the season awards, as well as the Liverpool goal of the season award for his 40 yard volley against Norwich on 4 December Liverpool proceded to claim second place in the Premier League as the season ended on 11 May , with Suarez collecting the Golden Boot as the league's top scorer with 31 goals- the joint-highest number of goals scored by a player in a single season during the game Premier League era.

During the summer of , rumour again began to circulate that Real Madrid and Barcelona were keen on making a big-money move for Suarez. Two days later, FIFA handed Suarez an unprecedented punishment of a nine match ban from international football, plus a four month ban from all football activity, pertaining to "administrative, sports or any other [activity]," even banning him from setting foot in any football stadium. This would therefore suspend Suarez from any Liverpool match until November , and also ban him from even training with the club.

The ban would however not preclude him from taking part in a transfer and, despite his latest transgression, Barcelona made it clear they would not be deterred from pursuing the player. On 1 July , Suarez issued an apology to Chiellini which the Catalan club publicly applauded. Press reports in both Spain and England were rife that Barcelona and Liverpool were actively in negotiations to seal a deal for Suarez, with Barcelona believed to have agreed to pay the full release clause that was written into Suarez's most recent contract.

On 11 July , Liverpool confirmed that they had reached an agreement for the transfer of Suarez to Barcelona. Liverpool had reportedly attempted to include Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez in the deal as a replacement for Suarez, however the Chilean opted to join Arsenal instead, leaving Liverpool with a straight cash deal.

Upon reaching the agreement, Luis Suarez released a statement, reading:. Both me and my family have fallen in love with this club and with the city. But most of all I have fallen in love with the incredible fans. You have always supported me and we, as a family, will never forget it, we will always be Liverpool supporters. I hope you can all understand why I have made this decision.

This club did all they could to get me to stay, but playing and living in Spain, where my wife's family live, is a lifelong dream and ambition. That's why he thought he could leave when he wanted to last summer;-. You have almost psychological need to be negative about LFC.

I am not in a position to censor you as you have control but your continual snide comments about KD suggest that you are only happy when you have nasty comments to make. I know it's like when I found out santa didn't exist but in reverse. Greg if this was a singular comment which sought to be a negative comment, then I agree with you but time and time again the author seeks to create a negativity about KD.

Suarez has been the best player I have seen play for us. His signing happened on KD's watch yet JK is utterly determined to ensure that it was almost despite KD's appointment rather than because.

Why not just move on and try to be positive. I always thought it was Hodgson who started the process of signing suarez. JK of all the lfc discussion sites yours seem to be the most intresting site with very good analysis and constructive debating and also you pick good articles. Considering what an asset Suarez has become you would think someone would be claiming ultimate credit as the instigator of the deal, comoli is a tosser so i take any of his comments with a pinch of salt.

Kenny admitted himself that it wasn't because of him that we signed Suarez. We may have signed him if Hodgeson has stayed on so that does suggest that would have happened either way.

Not despite KK but just the king didn't have that much to do with it. I don't agree we should always just be positive but i do subscribe to the belief that we should be positive at the ground and not too disparaging about any of the current players as this translates in pressure on those players. But on forums like this I have no problems a bit of negativity. It helps people to see things in other ways. I personally doubt that JK has an agenda re KD but even if he did how effective could it possibly be?

Are there really going to be many people going "oh I thought Kenny was one of the all time players and brilliantly successful manager. I also thought he loved the club and has showed it numerous times but I read he made some bad signings and got some things wrong in his second spell as manager and this one site seems to make him look bad so I have changed my mind completely"?

Even if there are some so idiotic would there minds not be easily turned back with a few logic bombs? Truth is I had never read that Kenny admitted that about Suarez before and for me no information is bad information. Apart from your mum talking about her sex life. That stuff does not need to be known. Hey Greg - you hit the nail on the head there. Lots of fans don't know that KD admitted the he didn't sign Suarez.

It's info that fans might want to know. It's not negative, it's just stating fact. Hi Syed. I'm humbled by your kind words. There are lots of great posters on the site who elevate it with the quality of debate. Thank you, and thanks for visiting No, you just don't get the editorial approach of this site, and you never have done! How many times have we had this same conversation?

Critical analysis is always seen as negative by people who disagree with the subject being analysed. No one escapes on this site. The likes of Benitez and Gerrard have been the subject of far more critical articles than Dalglish, yet as I'm sure regular visitors will confirm, I've also been very complimentary about them also, as I have been about Dalglish. The site has a specific approach, which - rightly or wrongly - simply mirrors my view of LFC.

Sorry, that's not going to happen. Challenging the accepted beliefs of fans is important IMO , as is forcing people to justify their beliefs.

When people do that, it helps them see things from a different POV, but also allows them to solidify their own opinions. I've never made any 'disparaging' remarks about Dalglish. Stating a fact is not disparaging. Just a heads-up: Anyone who likes posts that disparage the site will get banned. If you agree with posts like this, why are you here? Yes, I'd agree with that. If Suarez sticks to playing football, I have no problem with him. He's a genius player, it's just that the last two years have been plagued with negative incidents, and I can't ignore them.

It would be the same whoever it was. In that case you got no choice, and to push an u21's to the bench I stand behind saying that Gerrard's current injury is the worst we had in a long time. Were depended either on Rodgers over rising or Allen, Lucas over rising. Honestly it's hard for me to see that happen. Man, i have to say this article does very well come as interest to me. Thanks for this information.

Who cares. Bottom line is that had it been any other person they would have milked signing Suarez for all they could. The fact that KD didnt shows the greatness of the man. Clearly his period in charge became a nightmare from the moment it was made permanent.

The signings were atrocious. As i said in a previous post million odd has been spent since rafa left and in reality only now are we looking any where near a team - and that too i still believe we are at least 2 midfielders short of challenging for the title.
